Welcome to Story Star Countdown

These books and associated activities focus on earlier reading skills such as letter names and sounds, two-letter sounds, and magic E sounds. These skills are typically associated with Kindergarten and First Grade, but it depends on the child and what skill they need to practice, so consider whether these are a good fit for your child’s skill level. The activities should be challenging without being overly frustrating.

Allow your child to move at their own pace and take breaks when needed. Nothing contained in the bag or in these activities needs to be done in one sitting! As you read, discuss what you are reading, and even write about it!

Above all else, have fun with it! Reading is a skill that only improves with practice, and so we keep it fun so that we can keep on practicing.
