Afterschool help for struggling readers
Learning to read comes before reading to learn
The ability to read proficiently forms the foundation of all learning. We know that students who are unable to read at grade level by the time they reach the end of third grade are statistically more likely to perform poorly in school and eventually drop out than students who can read at or above their grade level.
Throughout our 1-2-3 Read program we collaborate with local school districts to identify struggling readers at risk of failing to meet Ohio’s Third Grade Reading Guarantee and help get them back on track.
Cuyahoga County Public Library’s 1-2-3 Read program is made possible by Believe in Reading Foundation, M.E. and F.J. Callahan Foundation, Treu-Mart Fund, The Harry K. and Emma R. Fox Charitable Foundation, Eaton Corporation, Arby’s Foundation, Castele Family Foundation and the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation.
