Calling all indie authors and aspiring writers in Northeast Ohio!

Cuyahoga County Public Library can help you publish your own digital creations.  Create, save, and upload your eBook (whether it is your family history or the next great American novel), and we will make it available to local readers.

The Ohio Author Project, in partnership with Library Journal, wants to find the best self-published book in the state of Ohio. This year's contest is underway. Submissions will be accepted through June 30, 2018; see rules below.        ► Submit your work.

The winners of this contest will receive the following:
  • $500 each in Adult and Young Adult categories
  • A write-up in the December print issue of Library Journal
  • Honors at ALA Midwinter 2019 THRIVE Reception in Seattle
  • Opportunities to promote your book(s) at Ohio Public Libraries
  • A Library Journal Digital Review (Winners + Honorable Mentions) 
RULES
Each book submitted to the contest must be..
  • Self-published
  • In an adult fiction or young adult fiction genre
  • Written by a Ohio resident
  • Available in either ePUB or PDF file

Indie Authors

Step 2

Save your work for uploading.
We offer Pressbooks software to create professional-quality eBook and print-ready files of your self-published book.

Step 3

Upload your self-published book and expose it to library readers in your area, throughout Ohio, or potentially across the nation using the free SELF-e platform
  • Log in to SELF-e
  • Upload your self-published book to our SELF-e eBook collection and expose it to library readers in your area, throughout Ohio, or potentially across the nation using the free SELF-e platform.
  • eBooks published on the SELF-e platform may be reviewed by Library Journal and included in a curated collection of self-published material made available to library users across the nation.
