Career Counseling

Cuyahoga Works: Job & Career Services have both professional Career Counselors and Career Coaches.  You may think that they are the same thing, but they are not!

What’s the Difference between Career Counseling and Career Coaching?

Career Counseling

  • Career counselors are likely certified and licensed.
  • Career Counseling delves into the person’s background in the areas of job history, lifestyle, family influence and career goals.
  • Career Counseling can offer assessments to the clients in the areas of interest inventory, personality tests or other career-related tests that would be beneficial to the individual.
Career Coaches
  • Career Coaches are not licensed but may have a few certifications.
  • Career Coaching assist clients on focusing on the “now” on what they have and their future goals.
  • Career Coaching do not offer assessments, but they can provide a holistic view of the individual’s strengths and weaknesses as well as his/her desired goals.
Our Career Counselors and Career Coaches at Cuyahoga Works aim to provide the best services to adult job seekers find employment, advance their careers and/or pursue new career paths.
