VIRTUAL SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAMs

JUNE 8 — AUGUST 14, 2021 

Registration is now open for our virtual Summer Learning Programs! Over the course of 10 weeks, our virtual Summer Learning Programs will introduce your child to a wide variety of science, technology, engineering, arts and math activities presented in a fun and engaging way. Registration is required and will open 30 days prior to the date of each program. Use the links below to register.

steam kits

Cuyahoga County Public Library is delighted to provide a free box of supplies that can be used to participate in virtual STEAM programming and video challenges that will run from June to August. Kits are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. They will be available at CCPL branches beginning June 5.

You can also build your own STEAM kit by gathering the following supplies:

•20 sheets of plain paper •5 sheets of office paper
•5 sheets of construction paper •6 markers
•3 colored pencils •1 pencil
•1 foam brush •1 paint brush
•tissue paper •1 set of craft paint
•6 craft sticks •3 rubber bands
•6 paperclips •3 Q-tips
•2 balloons •4 straight straws
•3 plates •1 plastic spoon
•1 piece of sticky tack •1 stick of clay
•1 summer reading game board  
 

Scavenger Hunt

Complete this scavenger hunt of common household items to participate in our Summer Learning programs. In addition to the items that you have in your STEAM kit, participants (and parents) will need to have some of these common items ready when participating in Summer Learning programs and the library’s online Summer STEAM challenges throughout the summer:
 
•notebook or notepad ­•egg carton
­•newspaper ­•ruler
­•aluminum foil ­•shaving cream
•tape ­•liquid food coloring
­•plastic bowl or container ­•large spoon or spatula
­•plastic plate ­•hex nut
­•3 plastic circular lids of different sizes ­•corn starch
­•leaves ­•paper towels
­•vegetables (potato, celery) ­•6 clear plastic cups
•Styrofoam egg carton ­•black felt tip marker
­•20 index cards ­•toothpicks
­•10 pennies ­•paper or Styrofoam cup
­•dollar bill or paper cut to size of dollar bill ­•a pair of books that are approximately equal in size
­•5 smooth stones of various sizes ­•another person or friend
­•scissors
