A bestselling author, lecturer, and activist, Loung Ung has advocated for equality, human rights, and justice in her native Cambodia and worldwide for more than fifteen years. Lulu in the Sky : A Daughter of Cambodia Finds Love, Healing, and Double Happiness (Harper, 2012) is the last chapter in a life that began with her bestselling, critically acclaimed memoir, First They Killed My Father : A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers (Harper, 2000), and continued in Lucky Child : A Daughter of Cambodia Reunites with the Sister She Left Behind (Harper, 2005). It reveals Loung’s daily struggle to keep darkness and depression at bay while she attends college and falls in love with Mark, a Midwestern archetype of American optimism. Ung lives in Cleveland with her husband.
