Stories Connect Us — So Get Writing!

The outdoor mural unveiled at our Parma-Snow Branch in 2015 celebrates author Kate DiCamillo, the past National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, and her mission “Stories Connect Us.”  We invite you to choose your favorite piece of art from the mural (depicted below) and write a story, poem, play or essay inspired by it.  Upload your story here to share it with readers everywhere.

About the Author + Inspiration for "Stories Connect Us"

Kate DiCamillo is the internationally best-selling author of many books for young readers, including favorites Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux, and Flora & Ulysses. She is the winner of two Newbery Medals and a Newbery Honor, in addition to other awards in children’s literature. Kate was selected by the Library of Congress as the 2014-2015 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, for which she traveled the country raising awareness of the importance of children’s literature, education, and lifelong literacy. DiCamillo says about stories, “When we read together, we connect. Together, we see one another.
