How to Play the Summer Reading Game

Step 1: Register

  • Before you can play the Build a Better World summer reading game you must first register online or by filling out a registration form at your local branch.
  • Once you are registered, you may start tracking your reading beginning June 3rd.
  • Please call your local branch if you have any questions about registration. 

Step 2: Track Your Reading

  • Reading is tracked in 20 minute increments — all ages.
  • There are two ways to log your reading:
  1. Visit Summer Reading and log into your summer reading account to record your reading time.
  2. If you are playing offline, mark an “X” on your game board every time you complete 20 minutes of reading, then bring your game board to your local branch to have it stamped by a librarian.
  • Complete 8 hours of reading to earn a MIDPOINT PRIZE, while supplies last.   Earn a GRAND PRIZE raffle entry.
  • Complete 16 hours of reading to earn a COMPLETION PRIZE, while supplies last. Earn a GRAND PRIZE raffle entry. 

Step 3: Track Your Math Activities

  • You must complete four math activities to complete the Build a Better World summer reading game — all ages.
  • When you complete a math activity you can log it in one of two ways:
  1. Visit Summer Reading and log into your summer reading account to record that you completed a math activity.
  2. If you are playing offline, mark an “X” in the on your game board, then bring your game board to your local branch to have it stamped by a librarian.
