Michael Eric Dyson is one of America's premier public intellectuals. He occupies the distinguished position of University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University, is a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times, and is a contributing editor of The New Republic and ESPN's The Undefeated. Dyson has authored 18 books, including Come Hell or High Water: Hurricane Katrina and the Color of Disaster, April 4, 1968: Martin Luther King's Death and How it Changed America, and The Black Presidency: Barack Obama and the Politics of Race in America. Tears We Cannot Stop addresses the current and long-burning crisis in race relations and delivers Dyson’s provocative and deeply personal call for change.
This event is presented as part of the yearlong, community-wide commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Carl Stokes’ election as mayor of Cleveland.
